Poem: You Left

You left me alone
To fend for myself
You left me alone
I’m left without help

You left me in debt
A debt I must pay
But how will I pay it
So it goes away

Do you even care
What happens to me
Or is it more important
You set yourself free

No warning about
The ending to come
I’m left in the dark
Here hoping for some

For some sort of sign
About your plans
About the future
I held in my hands

Thought you were forever
But you chose to end
The great thing you started
When you held my hand

Now I’m left to wonder
About what went wrong
That made you want space
For who knows how long

There isn’t a phone call
No email or text
No how are you doing
What’s happening next

We’re still tied together
And yet you are gone
You’re living your life
While I can’t go on

How long will it be
Till I know how it ends
So I can start living
Not playing pretend
